Features to know about

Seamless LED Compatibility: Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass

Towing a trailer with LED lights can often trigger false bulb-out warnings on your vehicle's dashboard, leading to confusion and frustration. The Trailer Connector Adapter, equipped with a Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass, ensures that these low-power-drawing LEDs don't cause any error messages or hyperflashing. This is especially useful for European vehicles like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Porsche, which often struggle with LED trailer lights. Just plug the adapter into your vehicle's 7-way, RV-style connector, and watch your LED-equipped trailer lights work flawlessly—no more glitches or errors in communication.

Solve Hyperflashing Headaches: Built-in Load Resistors

Hyperflashing, where your trailer's LED lights blink faster than they should, is a common problem when your vehicle's system can't detect the correct resistance. This adapter comes with built-in load resistors that mimic the power draw of traditional lights so your vehicle reads the trailer lights correctly. Say goodbye to annoying hyperflashing and hello to a smooth towing experience with a simple plug-and-play solution.

Universal European Vehicle Solution: Works Across Various Brands

Many trailer adapters are brand-specific, but not this one. Whether you have a Land Rover, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz, this adapter serves across a range of European vehicles, ensuring you can tow your trailer with confidence. Its flexibility makes it ideal for tackling the challenges posed by mixed vehicular technology in a world where trailers and vehicles often "speak" different electrical languages.

Reliable Brake Controller Signal: Minimal Interference Installation

If you're using a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo, worry no more about interference or connectivity issues. This adapter works harmoniously with mobile trailer brake controllers, ensuring that your trailer's stop and turn signals are accurately detected and responded to. You can relax knowing that your important towing signals are communicated without interruption.

Enhanced Safety for Your Setup: Solid, Sturdy Construction

Towing safety is paramount, and this adapter does not compromise. It offers a rugged design, well-suited for tough terrains and long hauls. You can rely on this product to provide a secure connection throughout your journeys, mitigating risks like the separation of connections on bumpy roads.

Bypass Sensor Flaws: No More System Confusion

For certain vehicles, particularly newer models packed with smart technology, hooking up trailers can cause system confusion. This adapter is adept at tricking vehicle systems into registering a valid connection, thus eliminating erroneous warnings. The integration of electrical loads that mimic a full setup helps systems recognize trailers effectively, ensuring smoother integration with modern vehicle technology.

I ordered this product based the recommendation of your expert Jameson C. to a customer with issue the same as mine, namely my F150 would not recognize my truck camper and turn on charge circuit of 7 way plug to charge camper battery. IT WORKS exactly as described, solved my issue instantly. Great product and excellent customer service.

Bought this unit because I was having problems hooking up a Mercedes Sprinter to a Ford Maverick. Was giving me "left turn signal" error, thought this might fix it. Didn't fix problem.

I take it that you are flat towing your Maverick behind your Sprinter, has the error always been there since you installed the flat tow wiring? And what kind of flat tow wiring did you install in the Maverick? Just trying to get some information so I can try to help you figure out the issue Ronnie.

by:

Have a new camper and a new pickup. Pickup was throwing trailer light faults. Camper dealer said the issue was my truck and Ford said the issue was with the camper. Did some research about LED lights and found that some vehicles, namely imports have a problem with LEDs. My truck shouldn’t have had an issue with LEDs but it does. Bought this adapter and no more problems!

After trying an adapter for pulling LED trailers with no luck, I called Joshua B. at etrailer and he recommended trying this Lamp Out sensor for my wife’s 2015 GL350. It was the last possible option and it showed up and worked on the day we had to leave for a vacation. Thanks for the help.

by:

Just what I needed to make my 2016 Subaru recognize the LED lights on my new tear-drop trailer. Thanks for saving me money since I didn't have to rewire the car!

by:

Excellent service and the light receptical adapter worked great on my 2011 ML350. Though I should have paid attention and got one that converted to 4 flat. Added a standard adapter which I already had and had working trailer lights.

When I changed my vehicule for the Expedition 2021, I was getting the error message "trailer left turn lamp fault" when towing my RV. After searching online I found out that there wasn't really a problem with the car or the RV. The source of the problem was that I was using the Ford factory tow package with brake control and that their computer thought there was a faulty bulb when in fact it's just because of the low amperage used by the LED lights.
This problem can happen with different vendors not just FORD.
I was releived that there was an adapter to fix this but it was backorder EVERYWHERE.
etrailer kept me informed for several weeks/months until the part was finaly available. (thank you guys for that by the way)
With this adapter, my problem is no more and I can safely travel with my RV without having my left lights disabled by the car's computer (yeah it did that).
Every RV shop should have that and know about this possible issue.
Buy yours before they go BO again. :)

Did exactly what I was hoping to do, turn the flashing running lights to solid running’s lights on my Mercedes gl350. Couldn’t be happier!

by:

Worked as I wanted it to. Cleared the trailer fault message on my 2018 F250.

Solid, Well-Made, Does Exactly What It Should.
HyperFlashing
is Not Cool!!!

I've been trying to track down a part which solves this problem for a while. I started using an LED-equipped trailer and the hyperflashing & computer warning messages are annoying! I almost settled for 20141, but glad I waited. Also, most retailers aren't receiving this part for another month or more. eTrailer shipped the same day as my order.

NOTE: This works well with Range Rover also.

Not related to the product: This was my first eTrailer order and I was VERY impressed. I spoke with two ladies regarding this part and eTrailer's customer service is TOP NOTCH. I will definitely order again in the future! THANKS!

It should work independent of year. Check your trailer connector and make sure the connections inside have not corroded for starters. Also check all the grounds of the trailer wiring and if applicable on the vehicle trailer connector. Ground issues cause most of the electrical gremlins in the trailer world. On 7-Way systems, corrosion inside the connector is another likely culprit.

I ended up not needing it, but it plugged in and accepted my plug with no issues. My problem ended up being a pinched wire but had the same symptoms as a low volt/lamp out issue. Shipped fast as well. I’ve always had excellent service with E-Trailer.

I am an amateur Porsche Race Car Driver and have a trailer that I pull my race car on. I pull my race car with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. I could never get the lights to work properly and hated to rewire as I use an american truck sometimes. Before installing the adapter, the lights would just blink and had no brake lights or signal lights.. The adapter I bought is a great solution for European cars and/or trucks. I purchased the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV - Vehicle End and it works perfectly. The blinkers works. The brake lights work. I can't believe such an inexpensive solution solved my problem. Contact e-trailer before you think of rewiring any trailer.

I bought this adapter for my 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate and 2024 DRV Mobil Suites fifth wheel (41RKDB). This adapter worked fine on the turn signals, brake signal, and side cameras. But it caused my trailer brakes to intermittently disconnect. Towing a 19,000lb trailer with no trailer brakes was dangerous and I was very uncomfortable. Perhaps this unit was defective so I will try a replacement.

Hey Jim, I would like to figure this out with you. I have a few questions that I would like to ask. Does your 2024 GMC have a lamp-out sensor? We see it more with vehicles like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Porsches. Which brake controller do you have? I recommend testing the 7 way for the brake function on the vehicle side and then also on the trailer side to make sure that there is not a short in the wiring. Also inspect the trailer wiring to the brakes to make sure there is not any broken or frayed wiring going on. I have a FAQ below that is helpful when testing the brake magnets on the trailer.

by:

I was on my way to pick up new RV when I learned I need an adaptor for the trailer lights to work with my pull vehicle. I called Joshua at etrailer and he took care of me quickly and got me the adaptor fast. Outstanding customer service. etrailer earned a new client for like.

by:

haven't had a chance to use it, but it looks nicely made. will follow up with further info when we use it.

by:

Appears well made. Snug fit. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. I bought it to work with my Demco LED Light Bar for towed vehicles. My 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter based motorhome (Winnebago View) has a trailer lamp out sensor as do many European vehicles. This adapter tricks the Sprinter into thinking everything is OK. I plugged in the Demco LED Light Bar without this adapter and it went crazy, flashing randomly. As soon as I added in the adapter, it worked perfectly.

by:

This device solved my issue. I have a 2022 Audi Q7. Whenever the Q7s headlamps would turn on, I would get error messages saying “ left trailer bulb is out” and then “right trailer bulb is out.” The trailer lights would not come on under normal night driving, however, indicators and brake lights would work. This device solved the problem. No more error messages and all lights work as intended.

by:

Less expensive than alternatives, easy to use and store, works perfect.

by:

The customer support team was great and went to lengths to make sure I was ordering the part I needed, it arrived timely and works exactly as described. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the price was higher when I went through the ordering process than it was advertised for. When I questioned it I was told that price changes are sometimes necessary within a company and once you place the order the price is what they charge at that moment. The increase was small and I needed the part so I purchased it anyway. Just be aware that the price may differ from the advertised price.

by:

great service! easy to find the right part, order and shipping! big fan of etrailer.com!

by:

Excellent customer service from the owner himself! Thank you for solving my LED trailer light problem!

by:

Worked perfectly with my Mercedes Motor home

by:

Smooth transaction, product was delivered on time and worked as it should. I will do business with this company again.

by:

I ordered the trailer connector knowing that it was not in stock. Etrailer.com let me know the expected shipping date , and offered an alternative product, but I decided to wait. When the item shipped, I was notified. Delivery was then prompt, and a follow up email was sent to make sure I was satisfied. The adapter works perfectly to enable the cameras on the mirrors to show beside my 2024 GMC 2500 when the turn signal is activated, even without a trailer in tow. Otherwise, I don’t have a view to the side when I turn. Great service and communication.

  • Difference Between Tow Ready # 20142 and Curt # C57003 Adapters with Lamp-Out Sensors
If you will be towing a trailer with LED lights then you will likely need to use an adapter with a lamp-out sensor like the Tow Ready # 20142 or Curt # C57003 that you referenced. Both of these adapters will accomplish the same task; plugging into an existing 7-Way on your Audi and providing a new 7-Way that is able to recognize the LED trailer lights. The only difference between the two items is the bracket/housing and the wire extension on the Curt # C57003. If you don't need this and...
